Rebecca Styn
Rebecca Styn has dedicated her time and energy to the improvement of Erie at both professional and social levels. She received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Mercyhurst College in May of 1998, and since then has earned a master’s in Public Administration from Gannon University, thereby weaving together an artistic mind with knowledge of public relations in an effort to make our community a better place to live, work and play.

Styn is a lifelong Erie resident who is highly involved in the community, and is particularly dedicate to the advancement of the arts. She not only serves on boards related to the arts, but is a positive force at many Erie events, showing her support for a variety of initiatives through her attendance and support. Throughout her career, Styn has shown a dedication to using her skills as a communicator to advance community-oriented organizations, including the Erie Art Museum, SafeNet and the Erie General Electric Federal Credit Union. She has demonstrated a resolve to servicing entities that serve the community, when many other young professionals would have marketed their skills to corporations out of the area.

Currently, Styn serves as the marketing director for Medical Associates of Erie (MAE), a multi-specialty group practice with various locations throughout Erie County. She previously worked with MAE as a freelance writer, designer and public relations consultant. Her outstanding work led to her current full-time position, where she is responsible for branding MAE’s overall image, marketing the approximately 20 individual physicians in the network (who are located in 11 offices throughout Erie County), and recruiting new physicians to the organization.

Styn has had an outstanding impact on the Erie region through her professional career as well as through her volunteer efforts. Her knowledge of marketing and communications has impacted her contribution to efforts such as the “Villa In Bloom Annual Auction” and the LECOM Annual Auction. She currently offers her talents as an event-planning committee member for the American Cancer Society, a board member of the Erie Ad Club, and a member of the entertainment committee for the Erie Club.

Impressive as these extracurricular activities are, her true passion is the arts. Currently, Styn is a board member for the Erie Art Museum serving as vice president of special events. She previously worked for the Museum as their publicist and had also volunteered for the Museum’s mARTi Gras event, an event that has now been replaced with newer events such as “Just My Imagination,” which Styn was responsible for overseeing.

With a strong background in music, Styn also served as past president of the Greater Erie Youth Symphony Orchestra; her term ended just this past summer. Also, not that long ago, Styn could be found performing on stages around town as a member of the Killerinas, an almost-all-girl rock band who perform original pop music.

The bottom line is that Styn is Erie-oriented. She loves this community, and especially the art aspects of Erie. Her involvement in the community helps to ensure that important cultural facets of Erie will be here for others to enjoy for years to come. Styn’s professional achievements and activities, her generosity and her drive to follow through and complete all that she undertakes, demonstrate her commitment to the Erie area and truly sets her apart.
