Leslie Guelcher
Leslie Guelcher has demonstrated in numerous ways how her love and expertise in the field of marketing and communications has been a benefit to the city of Erie.

As the director of Marketing and Technology for K2S, Guelcher is responsible for the day to day internal technology functions of the office, but on a much larger scale she helps to build the business through networking and marketing. Guelcher has attended several communication conferences throughout the world, which has resulted in her looking at the world through a global perspective. She enjoys attending conferences to keep up on technology and what is going on around the world. Therefore, in return she can bring what she has learned back to Erie so that marketing aspects at K2S can adapt to the changing economy.

Guelcher spends her free time volunteering for organizations such as Erie Power Networking and the ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum, just to name a couple. As a member of Erie Power Networking, she serves as a welcome committee member, and she is on the board of directors for the ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum, where she focuses on strategic planning. Guelcher also performed volunteer work with IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) for nine years in the past, and says that IABC helped her leadership skills grow into what they are today. While Guelcher was active in IABC, she launched the chapter Web site and e-newsletter. She also specialized in editing, treasury, professional development and membership. When the Erie chapter closed, Guelcher worked on the regional level.

Guelcher loves to travel and has been to such places as Washington, D.C. and Vancouver, but she says that nothing compares to the way she feels when she flies back home to Erie. She feels relaxed and loves that she can spend time with her family, and would not trade that for anything in the world.

In the future, Leslie wants to become more involved in the arts and hopes to become a scientist or anthropologist one day.

Guelcher’s advice to young professionals is that, “It’s okay to be as quirky and original as you are. If anyone judges you, ignore them because they are not worth your time. It’s okay to be you. Embrace who you are and respect the individual in everybody.” She says that being comfortable with yourself is half the battle in life. “If you are enjoying what you’re doing and enjoying yourself - that’s all that counts – do what’s in your heart.”
