Facts about Philip
Education: I earned my B.S. Industrial Engineering with a double major in Economics from Northwestern University, and my MBA from Duke University.
Lived in the Erie area: I grew up in Erie (aside for a year in North Carolina) until after high school, when I left to go to school at Northwestern in Chicago. Over the next 10 years, I lived in quite a few cities across the U.S. before returning to Erie at the end of January 2007.
Been involved with yep!: Approximately 1 year.
Most memorable Erie moment: My sister's wedding in October of 2007 - it was a beautiful, moving ceremony followed by a fantastic reception that was filled with family and friends, some of whom made the trip to Erie from as far as Germany.
Favorite local restaurant: Contrary to the naysayers, Erie does have a selection of very good restaurants. I'll select two current favorites - "Matthew's Trattoria" (153 East 13th Street) where I would recommend their sushi (Friday & Saturday nights) along with an after-dinner martini, and look for a night when they have a live jazz band. If you're at Matthew's during the week, I'd recommend their Pan Seared Ahi Tuna, which is best enjoyed seared rare. Much less known is "Rosa's Legacy" (Brown Ave. & Cherry St.), which is a small, home-style Dominican restaurant. I would recommend their Shrimp & Garlic sauce, and it's BYOB so make sure to bring your favorite bottle of wine. The food is authentic and the atmosphere reminds me of the small, family-run BYOB restaurants that I enjoyed while I lived in Philly.
*Favorite aspects of Erie: Aside from being close to family and friends, I appreciate the small things that make life enjoyable, many of which I had to give up while traveling to major cities across the US every week as a consultant for Deloitte. I appreciate the lack of traffic, ease of parking, affordability of homeownership (I absolutely love my house), and, of course, Erie's most valuable asset - Lake Erie.
Favorite local sports team: Locally, I give my support to my alma mater - the Cathedral Prep Ramblers.
Hobbies: Golf, Traveling
One of the things yet to do in Erie: I'd love to spend a perfect, clear, warm Erie summer day sailing aboard the Niagara.
