A Word from Our President
Together we can make a difference
Dear yep! members:
Since 2002, young professionals in the region have been working to make Erie a better place to live, work, and play. Through the dedication and leadership of many leaders in the organization, yep! has helped to energize and empower hundreds of individuals to make a difference.
I would like to personally thank outgoing President Tom Tredway and Co-Vice President Jane Roche for the countless hours of time and effort they gave to yep!. As the Co-Vice President of yep! for the last year, I have witnessed firsthand the commitment that Tom, Jane, and the rest of the leadership has to yep! and to the future success of the Erie region. In the last year, yep! has donated thousands of dollars to charity; surpassed the two-hundred paid member mark; received a permanent seat on the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership Board of Directors; and hosted the most successful Pennsylvania Young Professionals ImPAct Conference in its history. These accomplishments could not have been achieved without the support of our members and we should take pride in everything that has been achieved thus far.
Entering 2009, the future of yep! is strong and as President I am committed to accomplishing the following goals.
- Host our first annual membership meeting.
- Improve the benefits of yep! by introducing a membership and preferred vendor card.
- Develop new programming that caters to a wider variety of members.
- Strengthen or establish partnerships with civic and non-profit organizations in the region.
- Use technology to empower our members to connect with one another and the community.
- Create profiles that highlight the successes of our members and yep!.
- Launch yep! for Business - a program that will work with organizations to energize and empower their employees to make a difference in the region.
- Complete yep!'s application to become a non-profit organization.
- Grow our paid membership base to over 350 members.
- Continual improvement through the use of metrics, benchmarks, and goals.
The mission of yep! and my personal goal as President is clear. To empower individuals to make the Erie region a better place to live, work, and play. Through our events, outreach to the community, and development of a more diverse group of members, we can make our mission become a reality.
I look forward to working with our newly elected Co-Vice Presidents Andrew Lincoln and Emily Hartwig-Wachter and the yep! steering committee to accomplish these goals. I encourage each member to become more involved with yep! so we can succeed together.
